This beautiful sculpture realized in China in the 18th century depicts Guanyin, a Bodhisattva associated with compassion. The female form holds a pot in her hands. She appears draped in a long flowing dress with a tiara- the many details of her appearance are beautifully articulated. Hand-carved from Jichi wood, the sculpture offers a wonderfully aged skein, which both testifies to its antique age as well as its fine condition for its over three century life.
