Machine Age Chrome and Stained Glass Radio by Radio-Glo, circa 1936

SKU#: HOB-5418018

Rare stained glass and chromed steel AM radio by Radio-Glo with black painted wood base. This rarely seen radio is made of red and white stained glass panels held together by a chromed steel structure which illuminates from the inside via two small 4-watt light bulbs that are controlled by a separate switch in the back to turn the internal lights on and off. Manufactured by the Radio-Glo Company Inc in Benton Harbor, Michigan and designed/patented by George A. Stamm in 1936. This radio ended up being the only radio ever produced by the Radio-Glo company. Fully working, turn the switch and start listening to your favorite AM station. This radio measures approximately: 14" wide by 13" high by 9" deep. Found in the book Machine Age to Jet Age II (page 40.) This Radio is currently on display at the California Heritage Museum in Santa Monica California for the "Collector's Choice - The Passion that is Collecting" exhibition.
