This sophisticated, yet whimsical, Mid-Century Modern owl sculpture was hand blown in Murano, Italy by the master glass maker himself- Licio Zanetti, circa 1960. The sculpture presents an owl perched on an organically contoured translucent base. The bird has smoked glass wings with raised striations and peaked ears in the same smoky sable hue. Its eyes only flash of chromatic brilliance with their marigold pinwheel irises against a white background with black pupils. With its beautiful artisanal quality and wonderfully idiosyncratic design, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of first rate midcentury glass, as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. The piece is signed "Zanetti" on the base and is in excellent condition.
